Home Trends – Shades of Green

If youโ€™ve followed my blog from the beginning you know I used to be a womenโ€™s fashion and accessories designer.

Now that Iโ€™ve pivoted into the interior design field, I see the crossover of fashion trends into the home decor space. I see it primarily in the areas of color and pattern.

This year, I decided to start a series to showcase how the two overlap. Each week I’ll share home decor finds that highlight the year’s runway trends.

To start the series, I’m sharing one color that was seen all over the runways – Green.

For years farmhouse design style has made the color green popular. With shades ranging from hunter green to olive adorning walls and mudrooms. But this year on the runway jade, pistachio and pale greens were everywhere.

Green proved to be a versatile color on the runway. It worked as a full outfit choice, an accent, and a print. The same can be seen in the home decor space this year.

Companies like Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Ralph Lauren have featured rich tones of jade, and emerald home decor pieces. While others, like World Market and Birch Lane, have showcased pastel and lighter toned greens, heavy in texture and pattern.

Although, this season has green trending on the runway, it’s a staple color in the home decor space. From moody color drenched mudroomsโ€ฆ

And home decor accessories rich in color and patterns. Green in all of its varying tones is a color that is always on trend in our homes.
