Paint Daze – 3 spaces, 1 month

For the month of January we took on the task of painting the three spaces we intend to redesign in our home this year. We figured it would be easier to paint all three spaces, rather than paint one room then a few months later get the paint back out to paint again.

When we moved in 5 months ago we decided to paint the full interior of the house Cumulus Cloud by Benjamin Moore. I like this color because itโ€™s a warm grey tone, that depending on the lighting and decor can lend itself to various color schemes.

The 3 spaces we are focused on this year to redesign are all upstairs in our home:

  • Our sonโ€™s room
  • The kidโ€™s Bathroom
  • The upstairs hallway

For my sonโ€™s room I knew I wanted to paint the closet and a corner of his room the same color. When I design his room later this year I plan to make the painted corner a feature in his room.

I chose Charcoal Blue by Sherwin Williams for the closet and corner wall color and it was the perfect moody blue to compliment the warm grey of his newly painted walls.

I love how his closet came out! I ordered the knobs and backplates on Etsy, and swapped them out for the standard wooden knobs on most builder grade closets.

While I was painting the closet in our sonโ€™s room, Cruz (my husband) started painting the hallway. We have a long hallway, and my plan is to create 2 areas of the hallway and to have wallpaper on one full side of the hall leading down the stairs.

Once the hallway was done, I started painting the kidโ€™s bathroom. I knew for their bathroom I wanted the interior of the doors to be a different color than the white of the exterior. So I painted the full bathroom Cumulus Cloud, and then painted the bathroom door and closet door in the bathroom Network Gray by Sherwin Williams.

Now that the painting is complete itโ€™s time to make the changes to the vanity, decide on an accent wall design and pick decor features like lighting, hardware and the mirror.

Each week Iโ€™ll be sharing more of the progress we make and the decor items I find.
