This week my focus was on installing the new hallway lighting.

When I originally sketched the hallway design I thought semi-flush pendent lights would be great in the space.

These lights are about 12 inches in height. But then I realized that the boob lights we plan to take down are 9 inches. Adding these lights to the hallway would defeat my purpose in making the ceiling feel taller. I decided to save this light style for a different room. Instead, I looked for a flush mount light with a low profile.

I found this set of lights on sale on Amazon. I think they are simple enough. They have only a 3-inch height. When installed, they will make the ceiling feel higher.
I also knew I wanted picture lighting for the artwork/ photos on the walls. This was one of my inspiration photos. So I began looking for the style in gold, but also- with motion sensors.

I wanted motion sensors. If the layout for the pictures is correct, then one of the light switches in the hallway will be covered up. Having the motion sensors will eliminate the need for the light switch closest to the garage.
I got a great deal on these lights too. Overall, I spent less than $200 on all of the lighting for the hallway.
So before I share what the new lighting looks like now, here is the before:

And here are the after photos:
