Walk-In Closet System

Now that the walk-in closet is painted, wallpapered and the ceiling light is installed, it’s time to add in the closet system.

After reading reviews and looking at different style of systems I decided on the Allen & Roth brand Closet System at Lowe’s. The system has good reviews for assembly, and the style will transfer well into the kid’s bedroom closets when we decide to swap them in the years to come. I purchased two closet systems for each side of our walk-in closet and opted not to buy the separate pedestals. We plan to mount the systems on the closet walls.

Assembling the closet towers was pretty simple. The directions are written along with a drawing. All the parts are identified in the directions by letters. To put the systems together you do need a screwdriver, along with the Allen wrench they provide. The hardest part of the assembly was taking apart the two parts that create the track for the drawer. They have a lubricant on them which makes it a messy process. But beyond that, it was a straightforward build for both systems.

Once the middle storage towers were built, we used the helpful wall mount diagram provided by Allen and Roth to measure and drill where our brackets would hang to mount the towers.

The diagram had tape on the back, so once we found the studs it sticks in place for convenience.
Drilling the holes

After securing the brackets to the wall we hung each tower. We hung the towers at 6 ft. 8 in. to still be able to fit storage containers above the towers and on the upper shelves.

The biggest snag we hit after the towers were hung, was the shelves not being the right size for each wall. For one side we need them to measure 33 inches and they measure 36 inches, and for the other we need 39 inches and they are 36 inches. So I am going to head to Lowe’s and get some custom cut shelving, and finish this project up.
