Making Space – 2024 Organization

Since adding a command center to our kitchen before the new year, I’ve noticed how many other areas in our home could use a bit more organization.

On my list for 2024:

  • Bathroom Drawers and Kitchen Drawers
  • Bathroom Cabinets
  • Bathroom Closets
  • Shoe organization in the laundry room
  • Coat Closet or lack of one

Those are the top areas that just seem to feel chaotic, but are also easy to ignore, because once the doors or drawers are closed “out of sight, out of mind”.

Towards the end of last year SpaceAid gifted me a 4 pack of Bed Sheet Organizers.

I figured trying them out would be a great way to start my organization checklist with the kid’s bathroom closet.

Here is the plan of things they need in their bathroom, it’s a minimal list, but- will have a big impact.

Bed Sheet Organizers, Drawer Organizers, Waste Bin Slide, Sectioned Hamper

The Bed Sheet Organizers are great, because they hold a lot- they can hold a full set of sheets and a small blanket as well. For the kid’s closet, I use 2 organizers for the kids, and I have one organizer holding 2 throw blankets and extra pillowcases.

I use the organizer for the kids, and guest bedding
Each organizer has a zipper and Velcro for closures.
Once you have the organizer open place all your bedding needs into the center square.
Bring the sides up over the bedding set, and zip them together
Then bring the top and bottom flaps up and Velcro them shut to secure the organizer.
Each organizer has a label slot

Here is the closet before. It was really just a drop spot for our guest bedding and extra items.

Here is the after, the bed organizers made a huge difference in creating space in the closet and providing an organized way to store the bedding and sheets.

The pillows and comforters will go back into this closet once the winter weather has passed, but I’m looking into storage solutions for those items too, and will share once I find a good one.

I’m also adding a sorted hamper to this closet, right now we have a laundry bag, which worked well in the past, but now the kids are getting older and can sort their own laundry, so a change is needed.

I’ll be sharing more organization products and fixes to this space over the next few months.
