Finding the Perfect Boxwood Wreath for Modern Colonial Homes

I know Iโ€™ve talked a lot about my front step planters.

Finding faux boxwoods that looked more real than plastic was a challenge. But I knew I wanted a Modern Colonial landscape for our yard. I love the clean lines and shapes.

Knowing the minimalism involved, it took me a full year to find a boxwood wreath that matched the boxwoods. The wreath is the right size for our door and affordable. If you havenโ€™t been wreath shopping- even the simplest wreaths are a bit pricey. I havenโ€™t seen many good wreaths for under $45 and the more decorative the higher the price.

So, when I found this 20-inch boxwood wreath on Amazon with good reviews I knew it was the one for our front door.โ€‚It was constantly out of stock, after about a month and a half I was able to order it on sale.

Amazon – on sale $17

The wreath came with a buffalo check bow, which doesnโ€™t fit the aesthetic of our home, so I knew I would also have to make a bow for it.

I used some of my excess striped fabric from when I used to make clothing and wrapped the fabric around the buffalo check fabric and hot glued it into place.

Then I folded and shaped the bow into place. Once I had the shape, I used plastic coated wire to hold the bow’s shape.

Then I hot glued the tie to secure it in place. Next, I tied the bow to the wreath and fluffed the wreath a bit. I added another tie to the wreath to fit our door hook and hung the wreath.

I’m definitely glad I took the time to find what I really wanted for our front door.
