Easy DIY Box Molding for Your Dining Room

Recently I added Box Molding to our dining room. It was a simple DIY project, that I think any level of DIYer can complete, because it doesnโ€™t require power tools. You can read more about the process HERE.

There were a few reasons I chose to add box trim to the wall as opposed to wainscoting or another wall treatment.

1. Height

Adding paneling to your walls can give the space a feeling of added height. The box paneling draws the eye up, so even if your ceilings are low or standard height, the eye will feel the space is larger with box trim.

2. Grounding a Space

With more homes having an open concept layout, box molding can ground the different spaces within an open concept and allow them to stand alone as their own room.

3. Create Interest

Box trim comes in many sizes and with many decorative embellishments.  This means your molding can be as simple or ornate as you would like it to be. It lends itself to many different design styles and can create interest in a room.

Overall, I think the addition of box trim is an easy DIY that adds a lot of value to a space. It also compliments many design aesthetics.
