The kid’s bathroom is almost complete, I only have a few more items to add to fully complete the space – a rug runner, a window shade, new door knobs and backplates as well as crown molding, all of which I will add later, and share as I go.
But for now here is the before of the bathroom:
It was a simple builder grade bathroomI didn’t like the blue on the walls and knew a lot needed to change.
I learned so much during this project, from the overall feel a room can have with the addition of an accent wall to small scale DIY installations, like a new toilet handle, and shampoo/conditioner dispensers.
I enjoyed planning all of the details and finding the items that would make my kids bathroom routines easier and the bathroom the most functional for them.
Here are some images of the finished space:
I hand painted the accent wall. To see more of the process click HEREThis ottoman provides storage for toilet paper rolls, and also a spot for the kids to sit if needed. To give the bathroom height I added in a washable fabric shower liner along with a set of long curtains I spray painted and sealed the shower hardware and added in a shampoo and conditioner dispenser I painted the full bathroom Cumulus Cloud by Benjamin Moore. Then I painted the interior bathroom doors Network Gray by Sherwin Williams. Spray painting the pulls to match the rest of the gold hardware for the vanity proved the most challenging. But after a bit of experimenting I got a color that worked. For the vanity changing out the faucet to one with a swivel feature, adding a towel stand, swapping out the lighting and adding a large mirror were changes that worked well for my kids. I also DIY’d all the artwork and frames for the bathroom- for more on the process click HEREI used Rub n Buff to change the toilet plumbing from chrome to gold toned
Overall, I’m so happy with how the space turned out, and how much of a transformation I was able to give this bathroom. It was worth the extra time it took me in order to pay attention to all the little details.
