Why Ruggable Rugs Are Ideal for Pet Owners

Last year we adopted our dog, Rio.

His Adoptiversary

Itโ€™s been years since we have had a dog in our home, and I almost forgot how much cleaning of floors is required once you have a dog.

Beyond the daily vacuuming, I also use a rug cleaner on the throw rugs, and carpets once a month.

In February I decided to try a Ruggable washable rug for our entryway. I wanted to see if it would be easier to maintain than our other throw rugs.

The first thing I noticed was that the rug is not textured or soft. It is thin, and without the rug pad used to keep it in place, it would feel very flimsy.

For the purpose of our entry way this was fine with me. Although guests take their shoes off in our home, we use the front door to let the dog out multiple times a day. He likes laying in front of the door and tracks in a lot of dirt daily, so a thick or soft rug would have been ruined in this space.

The pattern is cute and the rug is very easy to lay over the grip mat. Originally I had planned to use this rug in our kidโ€™s bathroom, but the pattern didnโ€™t go with the accent wall design and after seeing the rug in the space, I also realized it was the wrong size (I will need a runner style rug for their bathroom).

I maintain the rug with daily vacuuming, the way I do the rest of the floors, carpets, and throw rugs but it took about 2 months before I could visibly see dirt on the rug to clean it.

The washing process was so easy, I was surprised. The rug easily comes a part from the rug pad, itโ€™s lightweight so itโ€™s not difficult to carry and it folds easily into the washing machine and dryer.

I washed and dried the rug on a delicate cycle I used a laundry pod and dryer sheets like I would normally do. It did take 2 cycles to dry on delicate, but I was nervous to use a higher heat cycle since the directions warn against high heat.

Once the rug was dry I placed it back on the rug pad and was surprised to see all the dirt gone!

I think Ruggables rugs are perfect for high traffic areas; like an entryway or dining room, where you would need to clean up dirt and spills more often than not. I wouldnโ€™t put this rug in my living room or bedroom, where I would want a softer, thicker rug under foot.
