Over the years, when thinking of affordable shopping, a lot of bloggers and influencers suggest thrift stores, although Iโm sure they have a lot to offer, I donโt shop at thrift stores, so I figured I would share some places that I look for affordable art.
Your Own Home
As an artist and designer this will always be my first suggestion. Before I go to a store or look online for art, I think about if there is an image or abstract piece that I could make that would work in the space. If you donโt want to create your own artwork think of photos or images you already have that could be resized, switched to black and white or reframed for the space.
If you chose to make your own art or frame existing photos and images you already have, Michaelโs and Hobby Lobby have coupons as well as 40-50% off / BOGO sales on frames throughout the year that make them affordable.
In my childrenโs bathroom, I created cut paper collages, and used images of them as babies for the space, for both sets of art I used clearance frames from the At Home store.

Etsy
Etsy is a nice place to find wall art for the convenience and variety. The search tool allows you to be very specific to what your looking for – color, theme, size etc. and most artwork is offered in a digital download.
For my daughterโs room I digitally downloaded all of the artwork, then printed them at Walmartโs Photo Center on the size and type of paper I wanted the artwork to be presented on. I found frames on sales at Hobby Lobby and Iโm really happy with how professional they look.

Home Decor Stores
Home decor stores are great places to find curated wall art. Large stores have buyers and trend forecasters who research the trending styles, colors etc that are popular in your region, then they buy accordingly for the stores in your area. If you are looking for on trend wall art, stores like Target and Home Goods are good options. If you are looking for color specific or themed wall art At Home stores and Hobby Lobby have a great selection of offerings.
No matter where you chose to find your art, I think the most important thing is to find artwork that reflects your style, personality and feels unique for your home.
