DIY Wrapped Ornaments -Revisited

Each year, since our daughter was born, I like to add new handmade Christmas decorations to our tree or holiday decor.

The first few years we added an Advent calendar to our daily countdown to Christmas. Prompting a daily holiday themed activity or way to give back during the holiday season.

When our son was born I made our family custom stockings.

And some years back I changed our Christmas tree decor and decided to create some fun candy cane themed DIY wrapped ornaments.

I used our old red ornaments and wrapped them with red and white striped fabric measuring 10″x 10″.  I secured the fabric to the ornament with ribbons in red, white and grey colors. Then using a glue gun I added different decorative pieces to the ornaments like sprigs, pine cones, and beads.

Fast forward to the present and as I added the advent calendar to our Christmas tree, I realized this is our first home with a staircase (we had lived in one floor apartments until recently purchasing our new home) and I wanted to decorate the bannister.

So instead of using the DIY candy cane ornaments on our tree, I refashioned them on our bannister.

I used a pre lit garland, ribbon, and candy cane striped stockings to coordinate with the wrapped ornaments.

I think next year’s Christmas decoration task will be to add our initials to our stockings. But for now, I think it’s perfect.

  1. Thanks! Itโ€™s definitely something you have to put in your schedule. Lol. I donโ€™t think I would have the time either if there wasnโ€™t a day dedicated to it in my planner ๐Ÿ™‚
