This is the 4th week of the One Room Challenge – if you would like to read about the past few weeks progress visit Week 1 , Week 2 , and Week 3.
This week I began focusing on the walls of my daughters room. Since we moved in I knew we would be changing the colors of the walls throughout our home. The existing colors are all hues of blue, which clash with the color schemes I want to use throughout our home.

We decided on Cumulus Cloud by Benjamin Moore. Itโs a grey toned paint that still has a lot of warmth to it. I didnโt want the color to lean too much into the cool tones, because I plan to use gold hardware and feel the cool tones wouldnโt lend itself to the gold accents.

Closet: Network Gray by Sherwin Williams
When I painted my daughterโs closet it was a solo project, but this time around the whole family joined me in painting the walls. The kids were so excited! They helped with the first coat of paint and then painted the new light switch covers.

After painting the walls my intention was to work on the accent wall I have planned for the room, but it requires a lot of wood cuts and measuring, which I didn’t have time for this week, so instead I focused on assembling all of the furniture I had mentioned we purchased and ordered in my Week 2 post.

We also took the time this week to hang my daughter’s TV. When deciding on a TV for our kids rooms we went with the ROKU TV because we didn’t have to worry about cable connections and it allows us to have all their streaming apps in one place. The remote is also nice for young kids because it has the streaming option listed with the logo to give them a feeling of independence when navigating the TV because they don’t have to ask for help.

Although we got a lot accomplished there were some setbacks. The rug I ordered that said “white” on the website arrived and it was cream. So I’m using it in the dining room for now. The desk we love is beige and not white – so I will be painting it this weekend, and although we love the modern feel of her nightstand and bench, the frosted grey glass is a clash for the direction I think I want her decor to go. So I’m debating giving it a cane detail – let me know what you think. If I do decide to change out the style of the glass I will share that in the coming weeks.

When my daughter and I started talking about wall decor she surprised me with wanting wall sconces for reading as opposed to larger framed art or posters. Now that I have an idea of the light style I will build the rest of the decor around them.
