If you are just joining me on my One Room Challenge journey feel free to read my Week One post to find out more details.
Before mapping out a plan for the One Room Challenge, I knew I first needed to speak with my daughter to find out what she wanted her room to feel like, so I could decide what furniture to purchase. After talking with her I knew she wanted a grey room with pops of blush and she wanted very little pattern. I decided she would have 3 zones in her room – her bed, a study area and a reading area. Once I had finalized the idea I compiled my list and began looking online for the items.
Furniture List:
- Bed
- Bench
- Nightstand
- Bookcase
- Comfortable chair
- Desk
- Desk chair

7. Comfortable Chair
My daughter liked the grey upholstered bed from Wayfair, which will be a nice focal point in her room. I chose white and clear lucite furniture for the rest of her room, so if she decides on another color scheme, the transition to change her room will be easy.
Next I needed to decide on paint colors. When we moved into our new home both of our kidโs rooms were painted a shade of blue. We knew a neutral gray tone would work best for both rooms and it was only after visiting with one of our neighbors and seeing the neutral gray of their home that we found a color we liked – Cumulus Cloud by Benjamin Moore. The last color choice I needed to make was for my daughter’s closet. I knew I wanted her closet to be a darker grey than her walls.

After looking at one of Pottery Barnโs seasonal color suggestions I decided on Network Gray by Sherwin Williams.

With the colors finalized it was time to shop! We found most of the items we were looking for at Wayfair, Target and IKEA.

With all the large furniture items bought and ordered, now we can paint.
