Each year, as the holidays approach, my family decides on fifteen things we want to be dedicated to as a family- these things can include festivities, charities, family time etc. I then write all fifteen things down on note cards or slips of paper and place them in the ornamental sacks I created for our Christmas tree and we open a card daily leading up to Christmas and participate in whatever way the card says (i.e donations, ย attending an event or baking a holiday treat etc.)
We started this advent calendar when my daughter was still a baby. The holidays are a time of year I love and it’s great to finish the year on a giving and grateful note. She is now 4, and gives some input into the activities we do- but when she gets older I would like her to pick the charity and festivities along with my husband and me.
I liked the idea of an advent calendar in ornament form more than one that hangs on the wall, because it adds to the fun of finding the ornament each day.

Here is a link to my DIY post about how to make these fun and reusable advent ornaments: Holidayย Advent Calendar
Whether you decide on an ornament advent or a traditional wall hanging, I hope your holidays are filled with giving and gratitude.
